‘I Am the Machala Now, Not Wizkid’ - Carter Efe Declares
Streamer and skit maker Carter Efe has once again stirred conversations among Afrobeats fans after making a bold claim about the nickname “Machala.”
Nigerian skit maker and streamer Carter Efe has sparked reactions after explaining his shifting support for some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars.
Speaking during an interview with TVC News, Carter was asked about his past support for artists including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido, as well as his recent mention of Olamide. Carter explained that he no longer wants to tie himself to just one artiste, claiming that his previous association with Wizkid ended badly. He then made a bold claim about the famous nickname “Machala,” which has long been associated with Wizkid.
“If you call Machala on the street now, I am the Machala and not Wizkid. I am telling you fact,” Carter declared.
Carter also addressed whether he could eventually turn against Davido, whom he currently supports strongly. The streamer dismissed the possibility, saying he would never betray the Afrobeats superstar because Davido has supported and helped him.
“I will never in my life betray Davido. Davido is my daddy, Davido is my helper.”
His comments have once again dragged Carter Efe into the ever-heated conversations surrounding Nigeria’s biggest music stars and their fanbases.
