The suspect, identified as Ting Hung Kiong, was arrested by NDLEA officers at the Terminal 2 Arrival Hall of the Lagos airport after arriving on an Emirates flight from Thailand via Dubai. Authorities said the 63-year-old, a Chinese national who reportedly naturalized in Malaysia, was found with two large travel boxes containing illicit drugs.
According to preliminary investigations, Ting traveled from Malaysia to Thailand before proceeding to Nigeria through the United Arab Emirates. During interrogation, she reportedly told investigators that she works as a caregiver in Malaysia and that her daughter sponsored her trip from Malaaysia to Thailand and later Nigeria. She also claimed she spent two weeks in Thailand before receiving the drug package for delivery in Nigeria.
NDLEA described the seizure as part of its intensified crackdown on international drug trafficking networks using Nigerian airports as transit routes. The agency also revealed that, in a separate operation, it intercepted over 1.8 million tablets of Tapentadol worth more than 2.19 billion naira at the same airport.
