“Alexx Ekubo Shouldn’t Have Kept His Marriage Secret” - Yul Edochie Says Late Actor Deserved to Be Celebrated While Alive

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked fresh conversations after suggesting that Alexx should never have kept his marriage and private life away from the public, arguing that people should have had the opportunity to celebrate those milestones while he was alive.

“Alexx Ekubo Shouldn’t Have Kept His Marriage Secret” - Yul Edochie Says Late Actor Deserved to Be Celebrated While Alive

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has posted another emotional message in memory of the deceased Alexx Ekubo, this time advising celebrities not to keep important life events away from the public. Reacting to the tributes and conversations that have followed Alexx’s passage, Yul said that he believes that the actor’s lifestyle may have denied fans and colleagues the opportunity to celebrate important moments in his life.

“Now people are talking so much about Alexx after his death, but some of those talks may have happened when he was still alive,” says Yul. Alexx Ekubo should not have kept his marriage a secret. “He should have given people something to talk about,” Yul reportedly wrote, musing on the late actor’s desire to keep his personal life out of the public eye.

Yul also revisited the fact that Alexx kept his health challenges away from many friends and colleagues until his death. He lamented that if people had known earlier, they might have rallied around him with support, prayers, and encouragement during his difficult moments.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions across social media. Some Nigerians agreed with Yul, arguing that while celebrities deserve privacy, completely shielding major life events can sometimes prevent loved ones, colleagues, and fans from offering support when it matters most. Others disagreed, insisting that everybody has the right to decide how much of their personal life to share publicly. In an era where many public figures share nearly every aspect of their lives online, Alexx Ekubo was often known for maintaining a more reserved approach to his personal affairs.

As debates continue about whether public figures should open up more about their personal journeys or keep their private lives under wrap, one thing is certain: Alexx Ekubo’s passing has left a significant void in Nollywood, and the conversations surrounding his life continue to resonate with fans and colleagues alike.
