“BBNaija Is Not Part of the ‘Olodo Uprising’ Culture” - BBNaija Cameraman Kayode Defends Reality Show
The infamous BBNaija cameraman has joined the ongoing “olodo uprising” debate, defending the reality show by pointing out that every Big Brother Naija winner is a university graduate.
The well-known cameraman who has worked on Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), Kayode, has sparked conversations online after defending the popular reality show amid the ongoing debate about education and competence in Nigeria.
Reacting to discussions surrounding what singer, Ycee described as the “olodo uprising”, a phrase he used to criticise the growing celebration of ignorance over excellence, Kayode insisted that BBNaija should not be grouped into that conversation.
In a recent interview, the cameraman explained that;
“Big Brother is not part of the olodo uprising culture; all BBNaija winners are graduates.”
His statement quickly drew mixed reactions across social media. Many users agreed with his view that several BBNaija winners have university degrees and have gone on to build successful careers, while others argued that academic qualifications alone is not the measure of intelligence, competence or success.
Although Kayode did not name any former housemate, his remarks were widely interpreted as an endorsement of the BBNaija brand in the wider online discussions about education, merit and excellence. As the debate continues, Nigerians remain divided, with some emphasizing the importance of formal education and others insisting that success is determined by a combination of knowledge, skills, character, and experience rather than academic certificates alone.
