“Calling People ‘Olodo’ Despite Making Money Legitimately Is an Act of Bitterness” - Superboy Cheque Defends Peller

Rapper Superboy Cheque has joined the debate over the trending “Olodo uprising,” defending people who make legitimate money and questioning why successful individuals are often mocked simply for being different.

Nigerian rapper Superboy Cheque has joined the growing conversation surrounding the controversial “Olodo uprising” trend, arguing that people should not be mocked or looked down on simply because they have chosen unconventional ways to entertain themselves and make a living.

Speaking during a podcast interview, the singer criticised the practice of labelling people “olodo,” describing it as an unnecessary insult directed at people who are simply being themselves and earning money legitimately.

“Olodo uprising… I don’t think it’s a good thing. I think it’s an insult to human beings.”

Cheque questioned why people who believe someone is doing something foolish would continue to pay attention to them instead of simply moving on.

“If you think somebody is doing something stupid, and you are saying it’s stupid, it means you are part of being stupid because you are talking about it. Why don’t you just leave it alone?”

The rapper suggested that some of the criticism may actually be driven by jealousy, especially when the people being mocked begin attracting massive attention and financial success. He further questioned why anyone would be angry at another person who is making money without engaging in criminal activities.

According to Cheque, anyone who deliberately puts down another person who is doing nothing wrong is either a bad or bitter person. The conversation eventually turned to popular TikToker Peller, who has become one of the prominent names associated with the ongoing “Olodo uprising” debate.

When asked whether Peller deserves to be described as an “olodo,” Cheque immediately rejected the idea.

“Pella is a human being who is hustling hard for his family, too, like me. So if he’s feeding his family, woe to me if I say he shouldn’t do it!”

The rapper argued that Peller is simply being himself and has successfully found an audience that appreciates his personality and content.

His comments have since sparked fresh reactions online, with the debate once again raising questions about success, social media culture and the tendency to mock people whose paths to fame look different from the norm. While some Nigerians believe the “Olodo uprising” is harmless banter and social commentary, others argue that people should be free to pursue their dreams and earn an honest living without being constantly ridiculed.
