Cooking Is Not My Wife's Thing So I Do It – Banky W Opens Up About His Marriage

Banky W is back with another take on marriage and honestly? A lot of women are loving him for it. The singer turned politician recently opened up about how things work in his home with his wife Adesua Etomi, and what he said surprised some people but made perfect sense to others. According to Banky, he does all the cooking. Not because his wife can't cook, but because cooking is simply not her thing. She's not interested, and instead of forcing her or making it an issue, he just picked up the spoon and got to work.

He said it without any bitterness, no complaints, no "my wife doesn't take care of me" energy – just a simple statement that cooking is not her thing, so he does it. Now, if you've been following Nigerian social media for a while, you know this is a sensitive topic. There's this old-school mindset that says a woman must cook for her husband, that if she doesn't, she's failed as a wife, that a man who cooks is somehow less of a man. Banky is throwing all of that in the trash.

Reactions have been pouring in and women are celebrating him, saying this is what an evolved man looks like, someone who doesn't tie masculinity to whether his wife is in the kitchen. Some men are supporting him too, saying they also cook in their homes and there's nothing wrong with it because marriage is about partnership, not about assigning roles based on gender. Of course there are critics, the usual crowd who say Banky is setting a bad example and making men soft, but Banky doesn't seem bothered. He and Adesua have been married for years and they're still going strong, so whatever they're doing is clearly working.

The truth is every marriage is different. Some women love to cook, some don't, some men can't boil an egg, some are master chefs. What matters is that both partners are happy and the family is fed. Banky's approach is simple, instead of fighting over who should do what, just get the job done. No drama, just maturity. And a lot of couples can learn from that.
