Davido Takes Swipe at MC Oluomo Over Opposition to Osun NURTW Ban
Davido has once again stirred reactions online after taking a swipe at NURTW President MC Oluomo over his comments on the suspension of the union’s activities in Osun State.
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken a swipe at the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo, following his opposition to the Osun State Government’s suspension of the union’s activities in the state.
The drama began after Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the suspension of NURTW activities across the state amid reported violent clashes between rival factions of the union. As part of the measures, the state government reportedly suspended the activities of the union at motor parks, stopped the collection of transport levies, and directed security agencies to arrest anyone found operating in the name of the NURTW.
However, MC Oluomo, speaking through his deputy, Aliyu Issa Ore, during an inauguration event, reportedly challenged the authority of the state government to suspend the union’s operations.
“Today, we heard that the state governor in Osun suspended the activities of our union, which they don’t have that power. Not a single state governor has power to suspend the activities of the union, because we are not under any state,” he said.
The statement appeared to draw the attention of Davido, who is the nephew of Governor Adeleke. Reacting in a social media post, the singer mocked MC Oluomo over his remarks, writing:
“MC Oluomo wey no fit compose sentence dey talk. Kudosuuuu.”
Davido’s response has since sparked reactions online, with social media users weighing in on the growing exchange between the music star and the NURTW leader.
While some supporters of the singer found the comment amusing, others criticised him for turning the issue into a personal exchange, arguing that the ongoing NURTW dispute is a serious matter that should be handled through proper channels.
The development adds another layer to the controversy surrounding the suspension of NURTW activities in Osun State, as the state government and the union remain at odds over the authority to regulate the group’s operations.
