From 'Olodo' to Breadwinner: Portable Opens Up on Returning to School While Feeding His Family

Portable has shared a deeply personal story about his challenging upbringing and his determination to get an education against all odds. Speaking during a recent episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, the singer opened up about how he struggled to pay his way through secondary school by selling sachet water because his family could not afford the fees.

"I didn't finish my education. When I was going to secondary school, I sold pure water to attend ODC. I didn't see anybody to sponsor me cause the school fees was high," he said. The singer also revealed that he was called 'olodo', a Yoruba word meaning dullard, by his family members who doubted his intellectual abilities, but he has now become the one providing for them.

Despite the challenges, Portable disclosed that he has returned to school and is currently studying Business Administration at Kwara Polytechnic. The singer's story is a testament to his resilience and determination to prove his critics wrong, showing that it is never too late to pursue education regardless of age or circumstances.

His revelation has sparked conversations about the importance of education and the challenges faced by young Nigerians who are determined to succeed despite difficult family backgrounds and financial limitations.

Portable, who rose to fame with his hit song "Zazu Zeh," has often been the subject of controversy, but his latest revelation shows a different side to the singer. His journey from selling pure water to becoming a successful artist and now a student is an inspiring story of perseverance that resonates with many young Nigerians facing similar struggles.

Fans and followers have taken to social media to applaud him for his determination and for not giving up on his dreams despite the odds stacked against him. The singer's story serves as a reminder that success is not always immediate and that education remains a valuable tool for personal and professional growth. Portable has proven that with hard work and determination, it is possible to overcome past labels and create a better future.

His decision to return to school while balancing a music career demonstrates that he is serious about building a sustainable life beyond the entertainment industry.
