“I Don’t Know Why People Are Celebrating Tinubu” - Prophet Odumeje Questions President’s Performance
Controversial cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has stirred fresh political conversations after openly criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, questioning why some Nigerians continue to celebrate the President despite the country’s ongoing challenges.
Speaking during a church service, Odumeje said he does not understand the praise directed at Tinubu, insisting that he has yet to see achievements that justify the commendation.
“I don’t know why people are celebrating Tinubu. What has he done since becoming President?”
According to the cleric, only members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) appear to be applauding the President’s performance. Odumeje recalled that Tinubu had promised to improve Nigeria’s electricity supply, saying the country should enjoy 24-hour power before the end of his first term. He argued that Nigerians should not re-elect the President if that promise is not fulfilled.
The preacher also expressed concern over the country’s persistent infrastructural and security challenges, pointing to the long-delayed Onitsha–Enugu Road project and alleging that parts of the Second Niger Bridge lack adequate lighting. According to him, poor roads, unreliable electricity, and insecurity continue to discourage investment and slow down national development. Odumeje further emphasized that any government genuinely committed to progress must prioritize infrastructure, improve security, and provide better welfare for police officers and other security personnel.
His remarks have since sparked widespread reactions on social media. While some Nigerians agreed with his assessment of the country’s current challenges, others defended the Tinubu administration, arguing that meaningful reforms require time to produce visible results.
As the debate continues, Odumeje’s comments have added another voice to the growing national conversation about governance, accountability, and the expectations Nigerians have for their leaders.
