“I Got My BBL in 2018 Because of the Trend and Peer Pressure” - Mercy Eke Opens Up on Butt Lift

Reality TV star and actress Mercy Eke has candidly opened up about the reason behind her decision to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), admitting that she was influenced by trends and peer pressure.

In a resurfaced interview that has sparked fresh conversations online, the former Big Brother Naija winner revealed that she had the procedure in 2018, despite already being confident in her appearance.

“To be very truthful, I did my body in 2018. I think at the time it was just the trend, maybe peer pressure; everyone was doing it. I already had a beautiful, slim body, but my stomach was a little too much,” she said. 

Mercy disclosed that she was so nervous about the surgery that she kept it a secret from her mother, fearing her mother would discourag her from going through with it. According to her, she and two other friends planned the procedure together and underwent the surgery at the same time. She also mentioned the painful recovery process, describing the post-surgery massages as the most difficult part, revealing that she had to sleep on her stomach for about two weeks because she could not sit on her buttocks.

But despite the discomfort, Mercy said she has no remorse about the choice. But she said that if she ever considered another cosmetic procedure she would be much more careful, and do her research about the doctor, ask about complications and understand the risks involved before going ahead. 

The interview, which has resurfaced, has provoked a mixed reaction on social media. Some users praised Mercy for being honest about the element of peer pressure, while others said her experience shows the importance of body confidence and making personal decisions without societal expectations.

Her comments have also sparked fresh discussion over the increasing popularity of cosmetic surgery and the pressures many women face to meet changing standards of beauty.
