“I Had to Dress Like I Owned the Money” — Frank Edoho Reveals Shockingly Low Salary on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Veteran Nigerian TV host Frank Edoho has opened up about the humble financial reality behind his polished television image during the early days of hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, revealing that he earned just over 100,000 naira monthly in his first two years on the iconic show.
For years, many Nigerians assumed Frank Edoho was already wealthy while hosting the hugely successful Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, thanks to his sharp suits, calm confidence, and commanding on-screen presence.
But according to the veteran broadcaster, the reality behind the scenes was very different.
Speaking recently, Frank revealed:
“My salary for my first 2 years on the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ show was 100-something thousand naira monthly, but I had to put on a suit and act like I owned all the money.”
He clarified that his salary was around 160,000 naira per month, which many fans found surprisingly low given the show's popularity and prestige.
Frank explained that despite the low pay, he understood the importance of presentation, maintaining the image and professionalism expected of a host on one of Nigeria’s biggest television programs. He also hinted that his finances improved after MTN Nigeria became involved as a sponsor, describing it as a major turning point in his career.
His revelation has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians saying it is a reminder that appearances can be deceiving and that success often begins with consistency rather than instant wealth.
