The comedian and social media personality regained his freedom on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, after spending 11 days in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following his arrest over an alleged death threat against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed the release, and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore also announced that DJ Chicken had been reunited with his family and loved ones.
Shortly after his release, a livestream shared on Instagram showed the content creator inside a vehicle, smiling and interacting with followers, expressing gratitude to God and praising the Nigerian government.
He said, "I'm back oo, freedom at last. God bless the Nigerian government, God bless Seyi Tinubu, and our president. I love you guys. It is not easy, my fans. People that are free don't know what God has done for them. Freedom is good".
However, just hours after tasting freedom, DJ Chicken made a shocking statement that has left many scratching their heads.

He was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in the Ogba area of Lagos State on three counts bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of peace and making threats to kill.
After pleading not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, with the court ordering his remand at Kirikiri pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
His case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings, meaning that despite his freedom, the legal battle is far from over.
