“I Never Dated a Paedophile” - Nkechi Blessing Fires Back at Critics Amid Baba Ijesha Baby Announcement

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has hit back at critics after her reaction to the news that fashion designer Luminee welcomed a baby boy with actor Baba Ijesha sparked controversy online.

“I Never Dated a Paedophile” - Nkechi Blessing Fires Back at Critics Amid Baba Ijesha Baby Announcement

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday is at the center of yet another social media controversy after reacting to the news that fashion designer Luminee has welcomed a baby boy with actor Baba Ijesha.

The actor’s baby announcement drew mixed reactions across social media, with many congratulating the couple while others revisited Baba Ijesha’s past criminal conviction. Nkechi Blessing joined the conversation by criticizing those celebrating the news, arguing that people should not ignore the seriousness of Baba Ijesha’s past simply because he has welcomed a child. Her comments quickly divided opinion online.

While some social media users applauded her for standing by her principles, others accused her of being judgmental and questioned why she chose to speak publicly about another person’s family.

Responding to the backlash, the actress doubled down on her position.

“I never dated a paedophile.”

She defended herself against accusations of hypocrisy, saying that although she has been involved in public controversies and relationships in the past, she has never been romantically linked to someone convicted of child sexual abuse. Nkechi also challenged critics who accused her of meddling in issues that did not concern her, maintaining that everyone is entitled to express an opinion on public discussion.

The exchange has once again highlighted the question on whether public figures should continue to face social consequences after completing their legal sentences.
