“If You Marry, You’ll Regret; If You Stay Single, You’ll Still Regret. Choose One and Take the Risk” — Rybeena
Singer Rybeena has sparked a fresh conversation about marriage and singlehood after offering singles some blunt advice on the risks and regrets that can come with either choice.
Nigerian singer Rybeena has sparked a conversation about love, marriage and singlehood after offering some blunt advice to people who are hesitant about getting married because of the challenges that come with it. The singer, speaking during an appearance on the Wahala Podcast, argued that there is no completely risk-free option when it comes to marriage and staying single.
According to him, people may experience regrets regardless of the path they choose, so they should simply make their decision and be prepared to live with its challenges.
“If you marry, you regret. If you don’t marry, you still regret. Choose one of the regrets and take the risk.”
Rybeena also challenged the idea that marriage is supposed to be a constant experience of romance and happiness. He explained that disagreements and arguments are natural because couples come from different backgrounds, have different personalities and may approach life from different perspectives.
“Marriage is not always like loving, loving. It’s about disagreeing and arguing.”
For the singer, the presence of disagreements does not necessarily mean a marriage is failing. Instead, he believes the way couples deal with their differences is what determines the strength of the relationship.
Rybeena stressed the importance of understanding one’s partner and learning how to navigate disagreements within a relationship. He explained that couples need to understand each other, know their boundaries and make the necessary adjustments to coexist successfully.
“What matters is the way we combat, the way we understand each other, and we know our dos and don’ts.”
His comments suggest that rather than expecting marriage to be free from conflict, couples should focus on developing communication and understanding.
