The leadership crisis surrounding the throne of Ipetumodu has taken a new turn as chiefs and princes from the town’s two ruling houses publicly endorsed the Osun State Government’s decision to remove Oba Joseph Oloyede as the Apetu of Ipetumodu.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier declared the royal stool vacant following reports of Oba Oloyede’s conviction in the United States. According to community leaders, the monarch’s removal was necessary to protect the integrity and dignity of the traditional institution.
Representatives of the two ruling houses reportedly described the government’s action as lawful and in line with the customs and expectations attached to the revered stool, stressing that the community’s priority is preserving the honor of the monarchy.
Attention is now expected to shift toward the selection of a new Apetu, as the people of Ipetumodu prepare for the next phase in the town’s traditional leadership transition.
