“My Husband Doesn’t Have a Problem With Me Kissing Other Actors” - Toyin Abraham Opens Up About Marriage, Trust and Nollywood
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has spoken candidly about the trust in her marriage, revealing that her husband has no issue with her kissing fellow actors on movie sets.
Award-winning Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about the strong level of trust in her marriage, revealing that her husband has never had an issue with her sharing romantic scenes with other actors.
Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, the actress was asked by host Morayo Afolabi-Brown whether her husband ever gets jealous because of the nature of her career and whether there are boundaries they have agreed not to cross. Responding, Toyin dismissed the idea that jealousy often occurs in their relationship.
“Nah. But there was just one day I saw a post on his page, and it was like… hmm, nonsense, you understand? So, but no.”
When asked specifically if her husband had a problem with her kissing actor Gabriel Afolayan in a movie, the actress made it clear that he completely understands the demands of her profession.
“I can even kiss anybody. Gabriel is my guy.”
Toyin also emphasised that she has built healthy and respectful relationships with her colleagues and their spouses over the years. According to her, many of her colleagues’ wives are comfortable around her because they know she respects boundaries despite the nature of her work.
“Most of my colleagues’ wives are comfortable with me. I can do every other thing, but adultery is not even one of them. God forbid it. I don’t do it.”
The actress stressed that while acting may require romantic scenes on screen, she draws a clear line between her profession and her personal values. Speaking further during the interview, Toyin also explained why many Nollywood filmmakers traditionally release blockbuster movies in December, noting that cinemas usually experience higher patronage during the festive season because more people are at home. However, she pointed out that recent box-office successes have shown that great films can thrive outside the holiday period.
“December, everybody is at home. But God just showed us how powerful He is. I’m proud of Dami and Blessing. It did over N700 million, and it’s not even the festive period.”
Her remarks have since sparked online reactions, with many fans praising the level of trust and understanding in her marriage. In contrast, others commended her for drawing a clear distinction between on-screen acting and real-life relationships.
