Ooni of Ife Honours Baba Ijesha With Chieftaincy Title, Brand-New Car, Other Luxury Gifts

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, after receiving a royal honour that included a chieftaincy title, a brand-new car, and other luxury gifts.  

Taking to social media, the actor thanked the revered monarch for what he described as a warm reception, fatherly love, and the confidence he and his wife were shown during their visit to the palace. In his appreciation message, Baba Ijesha wrote:

“My deepest gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife. Baba, thank you for the royal welcome, fatherly love, and the confidence you gave my wife, Afolashade Omiyinka, and me. For the luxurious gifts you blessed us with, and the brand-new car, I am truly humbled.”  

The actor also revealed that the Ooni conferred on him the chieftaincy title of Baba Awada Konge Oduwa, describing the recognition as a great honour and expressing appreciation to the people of Ile-Ife for the warm reception. 

Photos from the palace visit, which have since gone viral, showed Baba Ijesha and his wife sharing moments with the monarch during the presentation of the gifts.

The development has generated mixed reactions on social media. While many congratulated the actor on the royal recognition and wished him well, others debated the decision, given the controversies surrounding him in recent years.

As of this report, Baba Ijesha has continued to celebrate the honour, describing the Ooni’s gesture as one he will cherish for the rest of his life.
