"People Were Mourning, You Were Showing Rolls Royce" – Comedian Klinton Lashes Out at Cubana Chief Priest Over Alex Ekubo Burial Video
Comedian Klintoncod has stirred a major debate online after calling out nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest over a video he shared during the burial of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo. In a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Klintoncod expressed disappointment over what he described as an insensitive display of luxury at a time when family, friends, and colleagues were mourning the actor. He argued that Cubana Chief Priest missed an opportunity to show empathy and instead focused entirely on showcasing his lavish lifestyle. "This might be the most insensitive video I have ever made, but I have to say it. We just lost Alexx Ekubo, a talented actor, and people are mourning. The only video you could bring out is your Rolls Royce, G-Wagon, private jet, food and lifestyle," he said.
The comedian further questioned why none of Cubana Chief Priest's associates advised him against sharing such content during a solemn occasion. He stressed that there is an appropriate time for celebration and another for mourning, arguing that funeral ceremonies should not be transformed into opportunities for clout chasing or social media validation. Klinton also expressed concern over the public figures who reacted positively to the post, saying their response made him question the type of people surrounding the celebrity businessman. His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing that the timing was inappropriate, while others defended the businessman.
Not one to back down, Cubana Chief Priest quickly fired back at his critics, insisting that how he lives his life is entirely his choice. The businessman had come under fire after sharing videos showcasing his luxury vehicles, private jet, food, and lifestyle while attending the actor's funeral in Arochukwu, Abia State. Reacting to the backlash, he appeared completely unfazed, saying, "To all you m0d@fukc£rs who thinks you have something to say about me, it's my life, my choice, my energy, Bingos can continue to cry". His defiant response has generated another round of reactions, with supporters praising his confidence while critics accused him of being insensitive and seeking attention.
The debate has since become a major talking point on social media, with Nigerians divided on whether Cubana Chief Priest's display of wealth was inappropriate or simply a reflection of his personality. Some users argued that everyone processes grief differently and that the businessman should not be judged for how he chooses to honour a loved one. Others maintained that a burial ceremony is not the place for flaunting luxury and that his post was poorly timed. Alex Ekubo was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, on June 18, 2026, after passing away on May 11, 2026, following a prolonged battle with metastatic kidney cancer.
