Popular Pastor Daddy Hezekiah Accused of Alleged Sexual Abuse of Two Women Who Were Minors

Two women have come forward with disturbing allegations against popular pastor Daddy Hezekiah, accusing him of sexually abusing them when they were minors decades ago.

Founder and General Overseer of Living Christ Mission, Obiajunwa Onukogu, popularly known as Daddy Hezekiah, has been accused of alleged sexual abuse by two women who claim they were minors when the incidents occurred more than two decades ago.

The allegations were made in separate written testimonies by Kelechi Ibe, 39, and Onyekachi J. Eze, 40, who said they decided to speak publicly after years of silence. According to the women, the alleged incidents happened in the 1990s, when they were members of a church group known as the “Princess of Daddy Hezekiah,” which participated in church programmes across Port Harcourt, Onitsha and the Living Christ Mission headquarters in Nkwerre, Imo State.

In their accounts, the women alleged that parents often left after the opening days of church conventions, leaving the young girls under the supervision of church officials. They claimed that they were subsequently summoned to the cleric’s private quarters under the stated pretext of checking or confirming their virginity.

The women alleged that, while they were still minors, they were subjected to inappropriate sexual touching. They further claimed that they were warned not to disclose what allegedly happened to them, including to their parents or other members of the group. Ibe alleged that the incidents began when she was around 12 or 13 years old and happened repeatedly during church conventions. She said she eventually began speaking about her experience after comparing her memories with those of her sister, who had also been a member of the group.

Eze, meanwhile, alleged that her experience began during a church visit to Onitsha and continued after she became a member of the group in Port Harcourt. The women said they later discovered similarities between their accounts and believe that other former members may have experienced similar treatment. They named Nkechi Nwofor, Angela Michael, Sopuruchukwu, Nkiru Arum, Vivian Nmezi and Ihegboro Chibuzo among individuals they said had also come forward.

According to the testimonies, the alleged experiences have had lasting emotional effects on those involved. The women said they decided to speak out partly in the hope that their accounts could encourage other survivors who may have remained silent for years to share their experiences.

As of the time of the report, Daddy Hezekiah and Living Christ Mission had not officially responded to the allegations. The claims have nevertheless raised serious questions about the alleged treatment of young girls within the church group and the importance of safeguarding minors in religious institutions.

For the women who have now come forward, their testimonies represent an attempt to break years of silence and bring attention to experiences they say they have carried with them since childhood.
