Tension in Ibadan as Gunmen Reportedly Kidnap Ex-Minister Bayo Adelabu’s Sister and Twin Sons
Fresh tension has gripped parts of Ibadan after suspected gunmen reportedly abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons. According to reports, the victims were attacked in the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan, while heading out of their residence on Wednesday morning. The assailants allegedly intercepted them and whisked them away to an unknown destination.
One of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, reportedly confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were ambushed while attempting to connect to the expressway from their residence before being taken away by the kidnappers. The news has sent shockwaves through Oyo State, particularly because it comes at a time when the state is already battling heightened insecurity. Just weeks ago, dozens of schoolchildren and teachers were abducted during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area, which triggered nationwide concern. As of the time of reporting, there has been no official announcement regarding contact with the kidnappers or the conditions for the victims’ release. Security agencies are reportedly investigating the incident and tracking down those involved.
The reported abduction has further heightened concerns about insecurity in Oyo State and across Nigeria. Many Nigerians are hoping for the swift rescue of Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons, as well as stronger measures to curb the rising wave of kidnappings across the country.
