Tragedy in Benue: Pastor Dies Days After Regaining Freedom From Kidnappers
A tragic incident has plunged Benue State into mourning after a respected clergyman reportedly died just days after regaining his freedom from kidnappers.
A wave of grief has swept through Benue State following the tragic death of Rev. Samuel Gbinde, a senior pastor of the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST), just days after he was released by kidnappers.
The respected cleric, who served at the Andyar Ishan Classis, Saghev Council Ward in Guma Local Government Area, reportedly died after battling injuries he allegedly sustained while being held captive.
About two weeks ago, the devoted pastor, along with two church members, was abducted in a terrifying ordeal that shook the local community. Despite a ransom being paid to secure their freedom, the injuries Rev. Gbinde sustained during his captivity proved fatal. Following his release he was immediately taken to the NKST Mission Hospital in Gbokobefore being transferred to Makurdi for specialized medical treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel to save his life, Rev. Gbinde sadly passed away a few days later.
Tributes have been pouring in from members of his church, the Guma community and from many Nigerians mourning his death across the state. Reacting to the painful development, Dr. Eunice Ortom, PDP candidate for the Benue North-West Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, stated that the death of the late pastor was a painful loss for the church, Guma Local Government Area and Benue State in general.
While the community mourns, this tragic incident underscores the pressing need for safety and security for those who devote their lives to helping others. May the soul of Rev. Samuel Gbinde rest in peace, and may his legacy of faith and compassion live on.
