Uganda’s Ghetto Kids to Perform Alongside Shakira at 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show

Triplets Ghetto Kids has been officially invited to perform alongside Shakira at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show. The exciting announcement was confirmed by Shakira, who revealed that she personally invited the Ugandan dance group after being impressed by their choreography to “Dai Dai,” the official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem featuring Nigeria’s own Burna Boy.

Shakira said she wanted the halftime show to feel “special” and “unforgettable,” adding that she had already selected the Ghetto Kids from Uganda as part of her performance team. The performance is scheduled for July 19, 2026, during the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show, set to take place at MetLife Stadium (officially known as New York-New Jersey Stadium) in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Founded by Dauda Kavuma in Kampala’s Katwe slums, the Ghetto Kids have become one of Africa’s most inspiring success stories. They first gained global attention through viral dance videos, later appeared in French Montana’s “Unforgettable”, and wowed audiences on Britain’s Got Talent in 2023. Their performance adds to Africa’s growing presence at the 2026 World Cup, with Burna Boy already featured on the official anthem and Rema and Tyla previously announced for the opening ceremony.  

This is another reminder that African talent continues to shine on the world’s grandest platforms.
