She made the appeal on Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State, during her visit to empower women. "Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better. I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age," she said.
The First Lady's comments are part of a broader effort by the administration to secure support in the South East, a region that has historically been a stronghold of the opposition.
Her visit to Owerri was also an opportunity to connect with women and demonstrate the administration's commitment to empowering them.
The First Lady said the empowerment programme, implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, would benefit 18,500 women nationwide.
She said 500 women from each of the five South-East states would receive items including generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens to support their businesses.
The programme is part of the administration's efforts to address economic hardship and empower women, who are often the most affected by poverty.
She disclosed that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, had provided additional items for 2,000 women, bringing the total beneficiaries in Imo to 2,500.
The First Lady also praised the governor for his commitment to the welfare of women in the state, and she urged other governors to follow his example.
Her comments have been met with appreciation from the beneficiaries, who have expressed their gratitude for the support.
