“Wait Until Your 30s Before Getting Married” - Falz Advises Young People Against Rushing Into Marriage

Rapper Falz has stirred fresh debate on social media after sharing his thoughts on the ideal age for marriage, urging young people not to rush into settling down.

Nigerian rapper and actor Falz has weighed in on the ongoing conversation about the right age to get married, advising young people not to feel pressured into tying the knot before the age of 30.

Speaking during an episode of The BTS Reality Podcast, the award-winning artiste said he believes people are generally better prepared for marriage in their 30s, having gained more emotional, financial and mental maturity. According to Falz, many young adults spend their 20s trying to figure out who they are, making it a crucial period for self-discovery rather than rushing into lifelong commitments.

“Getting married in your 30s is the best. Don’t let anyone pressure you into getting married before 30,” he said.

The 35-year-old rapper explained that society often places unnecessary pressure on people to settle down at a young age, even when they are still discovering themselves and building their lives. He encouraged young people to use their 20s to learn, make mistakes, grow personally and professionally, and enjoy life without feeling obligated to meet societal expectations.

“By your 30s, you have gained more life experiences. In your 20s, you are still figuring yourself out. Your 20s are for learning, growing, and enjoying life.”

Falz added that the experiences gathered during one’s 20s become valuable tools in adulthood, helping people make wiser decisions about relationships and marriage.

“In your 30s, you combine all the knowledge and try to direct your life. So, it is better to wait till your 30s before getting married.”

His comments have since sparked widespread debate on social media. While many Nigerians agreed with his view, arguing that marriage should come after achieving emotional and financial stability, others insisted that age alone does not determine whether a marriage will succeed, maintaining that readiness and compatibility are more important than reaching a particular age.

As conversations continue online, Falz’s remarks have added another perspective to the growing debate over whether people should prioritize personal growth before walking down the aisle.
