“Wande Coal Is Not Himself in the Head” - Davido Responds to Singer, Says He Recently Asked for His Number
A fresh Afrobeats drama is brewing as Davido and veteran singer Wande Coal find themselves at the centre of a heated exchange over an unreleased collaboration.
Afrobeats superstar Davido has reignited his recent back-and-forth with veteran singer Wande Coal, making a controversial remark about his colleague while revealing that Wande allegedly tried to contact him just two weeks ago.
The drama comes shortly after Wande Coal seemingly responded to Davido’s comments about their unreleased collaboration, with the singer suggesting that his song performed well without Davido’s contribution.
Now, Davido has offered his own side of the story and his latest comments are already generating reactions.
“He Asked for My Number Two Weeks Ago”
Speaking during an interview, Davido claimed that Wande Coal recently tried to obtain his phone number, but he refused to share it. According to Davido, the situation showed that Wande was still interested in getting his attention despite their apparent differences.
“He’s been looking for my attention for some reason. I don’t know, he even asked for my number two weeks ago and I told him not to give him. So he’s just acting like a baby. He’ll be fine. He has somebody to take care of him.”
Davido’s revelation has added another layer to the ongoing conversation between the two music stars.
Davido also attempted to clarify his earlier comments concerning Wande Coal’s song Come My Way and the unreleased collaboration between them. According to the singer, he was not trying to discredit Wande or claim that the song was unsuccessful.
Instead, he said he was simply explaining why his recorded contribution was never released as part of a remix.
“I didn’t even say nothing bad. I just said, yeah, that I didn’t record his song as a remix and he wanted to drop it as a remix, so I was like, no, I don’t want us to do that.”
Davido added that, despite the disagreement, he believed the collaboration could have been a good one.
“But it would have been nice.”
Despite the tension, Davido acknowledged that his relationship with Wande Coal goes back years and revealed that he once looked up to the veteran singer.
“I’ve known Wande. Wande was one of the artists I was, you know, growing up, looked up to.”
However, Davido followed the compliment with another statement that has caught the attention of fans. He suggested that Wande was struggling emotionally with the current situation.
“I know it’s painful to see somebody come from back. So he’s not himself in the head, but he’ll be fine. One day he’ll be fine.”
The remark has already added fuel to what is becoming one of the most unexpected conversations involving two generations of Nigerian music.
Davido was also asked about his longtime rival, Wizkid, but this time, he chose not to enter the conversation.
Rather than offering his opinion, Davido simply declined to answer.
“I don’t want to answer that question. Oh, man. Oh, my God.”
His reaction has inevitably sparked curiosity, especially given the long-running rivalry between the two Afrobeats giants.
For now, however, the spotlight remains firmly on Davido and Wande Coal.
What began with an unreleased collaboration has now turned into a public exchange involving phone numbers, old admiration and some very pointed remarks.
And if the two stars continue responding to each other, this Afrobeats drama may not be over just yet.
