You Are Complicit If You Are Not Speaking Up About Insecurity – Actress Yvonne Jegede

Actress Yvonne Jegede has declared that anyone who remains silent about the insecurity crisis in Nigeria is complicit in the suffering of the people.

You Are Complicit If You Are Not Speaking Up About Insecurity – Actress Yvonne Jegede

Yvonne Jegede is tired of silence, and she wants Nigerians to know that keeping quiet about the banditry, killings, and abductions sweeping across the country is not neutrality, it is complicity, and that makes you part of the problem. She made it clear that if you see what is happening, if you know that people are being killed and kidnapped every day, and you say nothing, your silence allows the evil to continue without pushback or consequences. Her words come after yet another attack in Oyo State where a teacher was killed and several others were abducted, but she was also speaking to the larger pattern of violence that has plagued Nigeria for years without any real solution.

The actress has struck a nerve because many Nigerians feel completely helpless, they speak up online, they share posts, they tag officials, but nothing ever changes, so when Yvonne says silence is complicity, some people feel attacked because they do not know what else they can possibly do. Others agree with her completely, arguing that the more people shout and refuse to shut up, the harder it becomes for the government to ignore the problem and pretend everything is fine. A few have pointed out that speaking up online is not enough either, real action requires protesting, organizing, and holding leaders accountable in tangible ways.

Yvonne has not offered a specific solution or a step by step plan, but her point is about refusing to normalize the horror that has become daily life for many Nigerians. If you stop talking about the attacks, you are telling the bandits that what they are doing is acceptable and that no one really cares. She wants people to keep shouting, keep posting, keep demanding answers, because silence is exactly what the killers want.
