Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Niko Omilana were among the major winners at the 2026 MOBO Awards in Manchester, with several Nigerians and talents of Nigerian descent also earning nominations.
Nigerian music stars Wizkid and Ayra Starr, alongside British-Nigerian media personality Niko Omilana, were among the standout winners at the 2026 MOBO Awards held in Manchester, United Kingdom.
Wizkid secured the Best African Music Act award, emerging ahead of a strong field that included fellow Nigerian artistes Davido, Rema, Shallipopi, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold.
Ayra Starr continued her global rise by winning the Best International Act category, beating international stars such as Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani.
In the media category, Niko Omilana clinched the Best Media Personality award, edging out nominees including Bemi Orojuogun, also known as Bus Aunty, and DJ Remi Burgz.
The night also spotlighted other talents of Nigerian descent. German-Nigerian singer Odeal earned nominations in both the Best Male Act and Best R&B/Soul Act categories.
In the acting category, British stars of Nigerian heritage such as Wunmi Mosaku, Damson Idris, Dayo Koleosho, and Cynthia Erivo were recognised with nominations for Best Performance in a TV Show or Film.
The 2026 MOBO Awards, which marked its first-ever edition in Manchester, celebrated Black music and culture, with a strong showing from Nigerian and diaspora talents across multiple categories.
