UNILAG Issues Strong Warning to 2026/2027 Post-UTME Candidates Ahead of Screening Exercise

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued a stern warning to candidates participating in its 2026/2027 Post-UTME Aptitude Test, cautioning them against examination malpractice and any violation of the institution’s screening guidelines.

In a statement released by the university, UNILAG stressed that the online aptitude test will be closely monitored and that candidates found engaging in any form of misconduct risk disqualification and other disciplinary sanctions. According to the institution, the screening exercise will be conducted through a remotely proctored online examination system, meaning candidates will be monitored throughout the test using their laptops’ webcams and microphones.

The university warned applicants to strictly follow all instructions before and during the examination.

Among the key guidelines, candidates are required to use only a laptop with a built-in webcam and microphone, while the use of mobile phones, tablets, headphones, smart glasses, external webcams and other electronic devices is strictly prohibited.

UNILAG also directed candidates to take the examination alone in a quiet, well-lit environment, warning that speaking during the test, reading questions aloud, receiving assistance or allowing another person into the examination space will be treated as examination malpractice. To ensure candidates are fully prepared, the university announced that participation in a mock examination is mandatory before the main screening exercise.

The institution further advised candidates to ensure they have a stable internet connection and reliable power supply, noting that it will not be responsible for disruptions caused by technical issues on the candidates’ end.

In addition, UNILAG warned applicants to stay away from cybercafés, business centres and individuals claiming to have special access or influence over the admission process, urging them to rely only on official information released by the university.

With the screening exercise drawing closer, the university has reminded all applicants that strict compliance with the examination guidelines is essential, emphasizing that any attempt to cheat or violate the rules could cost candidates their chance of securing admission.
