EFCC Sends Strong Warning to Skit Makers: “Stop Using Our Name and Logo or Face Prosecution”
Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the EFCC, has issued a stern warning to content creators across the country, ordering them to stop using its name, logo, and identity in skits.
EFCC Sends Strong Warning to Skit Makers: “Stop Using Our Name and Logo or Face Prosecution”.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has drawn a clear line for skit makers and digital content creators, warning that the unauthorised use of its name, logo, uniforms, and operational style in online content will no longer be tolerated.
In a statement that has quickly gained attention, the agency emphasized that it has not granted approval to any individual or group to depict the EFCC in skits or media productions. According to the commission, the rise of EFCC-themed skits has created a distorted image of how the agency actually functions. The EFCC fears that continued misuse of its identity could public trust and even enable fraudulent activities by individuals posing as real operatives.
The commission has warned that anyone who continues to use its identity without proper authorization will face legal action. Creators who rely on “EFCC raid” scenarios for views and engagement may now be forced to seek official permission before using the agency’s likeness.
While some Nigerians support the EFCC’s move—arguing that law enforcement agencies deserve accurate representation, others believe they are not being extreme and thoughtless. For content creators, the message is simple—adapt or face the consequences.
