NDLEA's Two-Week Abuja Raids Land 132 Suspects in Custody

For years, certain spots in Abuja have been known as go-tos for anyone looking to buy illegal substances. Torabora. Dei-Dei. Kubwa. Gwarinpa. Wuse Zone 4. That list is long. But between April 11 and April 25, 2026, the NDLEA decided to change things. The agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, working with the FCT Strategic Command, raided multiple locations across the capital and its outskirts. According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the goal was to dismantle hubs fueling drug abuse and related crimes.

The raided spots include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis.

In Durumi and along the Suleja market axis, suspects tried to resist. But operatives maintained control. No casualties were recorded.

At the end of the operation, 132 suspects were in custody. The seizures tell a bigger story. 214.79 kilograms of skunk. 5.524 kilograms of Diazepam. 2.352 kilograms of Exol. 1.119 kilograms of Tramadol. 93.52 grams of cocaine. 10.9 grams of methamphetamine. 3.17 grams of ecstasy. Six bottles of codeine syrup. Plus smaller amounts of Mogadon and Rohypnol.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), praised the operatives and ordered that the same strategy be replicated in other high-risk cities across Nigeria.

Ahmed Sule Ningi, Director of Operations and General Investigation, said sustained pressure is what will truly make a difference.

For residents of the raided areas, the operation brings a measure of relief. Many have complained for years about drug joints operating openly.

The 132 suspects are expected to face prosecution. And if Marwa's order is anything to go by, more raids are coming to other cities soon.
