Husband Kills Wife 2 Months After Wedding to Take Over Her Wealth – Kano Court Hears

A Magistrate Court in Kano State has ordered the remand of a man, Ali Suleiman, over the alleged murder of his wife, Maryam Nababa Badamasi, just two months after their wedding.

Husband Kills Wife 2 Months After Wedding to Take Over Her Wealth – Kano Court Hears

Two months of marriage. That is all Maryam Nababa Badamasi got before the man she married allegedly took her life. The story is as dark as it gets, a young woman, newly married, dead at the hands of her husband, all because he wanted her money.

According to reports, Ali Suleiman was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kano on charges of culpable homicide. The prosecution told the court that Suleiman did not just kill his wife, he killed her so he could gain access to her wealth. Maryam, the court heard, came from a wealthy family. Her husband allegedly saw that wealth and decided he wanted it for himself.

The prosecuting counsel, Aisha Habibu Hassan, did not mince words. She told the court that the offence is a capital one and requested more time to obtain legal advice on the matter. The presiding magistrate, Sadiya Zakirai, granted the request and ordered that the defendant be remanded pending further legal advice and investigation.

This case has sent shockwaves through social media. Nigerians are angry, confused, and deeply saddened. How does someone marry another person, supposedly out of love, only to turn around and kill them for money? Two months. That is not even enough time to properly learn your partner's habits, let alone plan something like this.

Reactions have been pouring in. Some women are saying this is why they are scared to marry anyone who seems too eager or whose background they do not fully know. Others are calling for the harshest punishment possible if Suleiman is found guilty. A few are pointing out that this case is a reminder that wealth can be a curse, especially when you marry the wrong person.

The court has not yet set a date for the next hearing. Suleiman remains in custody, and the prosecution is gathering more evidence to build their case. Maryam's family is left to bury their daughter and wonder how they did not see the danger coming.

If the allegations are true, this is not just murder, it is betrayal of the highest order. A man married a woman, pretended to love her, and then killed her for her inheritance. May justice come swiftly for her.
