“If You Are Against Working With Women, You’re Not Ready to Grow” — Tobi Bakre Speaks on Success and Collaboration
Nigerian actor and media personality Tobi Bakre has sparked conversations online after sharing his views on gender inclusion, stating that anyone unwilling to work with women is limiting their own growth and opportunities in life.
During a recent interview on an episode of Mentality With Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Nollywood actor Tobi Bakre said he believes people who are unwilling to work with women may be limiting their own growth. According to the actor, some of the most talented, hardworking, and influential people he has encountered are women, and he thinks it is counterproductive to exclude them from opportunities or partnerships.
Tobi stated, “If you are against working with women, I don’t believe you’re ready to grow in life.” He explained that success often comes from learning from people with different perspectives, experiences, and strengths, regardless of gender. He further clarified that he has never approached work with a gender perspective, emphasizing that his priorities have always been excellence, creativity, and achieving results.
“I don’t see gender. For me, work is work because I came into the industry with the thirst to get stuff done. Let’s get the work done. Let’s shoot the shots. Let’s create. If I want to jump, how high can I jump?”
The former Big Brother Naija star also highlighted the significant contributions women make across industries, from business and entertainment to leadership and entrepreneurship. He argued that individuals who deliberately avoid working with women may be missing out on valuable relationships, ideas, and opportunities for advancement.
He explained that the female directors he has worked with have always been open to ideas and value teamwork above everything
“A lot of the directors I’ve worked with would say, ‘You have an idea? What’s your idea? Okay, this is what I have. Let’s balance it. Let’s push it together.’”
His comments quickly generated reactions online. Many social media users praised the actor for promoting inclusivity and challenging stereotypes, and are being viewed as another call for greater collaboration and respect in professional environments.
For Tobi Bakre, growth is not just about talent or ambition; it is also about being open to working with diverse people.
