“Their Parents Never Benefited From Nigeria’s National Cake” - Saheed Osupa Pleads for Rescue of Abducted Ogbomoso Schoolchildren
Fuji music legend Saheed Osupa has joined the growing calls for the rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Veteran Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has added his voice to the nationwide outcry over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The singer paused during a recent carnival performance to address the disturbing incident, using the opportunity to send a direct message to government authorities and security agencies. Speaking passionately before the crowd, Osupa urged the government to act swiftly and prioritise the safe return of the dozens of students and teachers kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area.
According to him, the affected families are ordinary Nigerians who have not enjoyed special privileges or benefited from the country’s wealth, making their suffering even more painful.
He said:
“The government should rescue those children. Their fathers and mothers did not benefit from the national cake of this country. Find a way to settle the issue and set the schoolchildren free as soon as possible.”
The Fuji star went further to stress that whatever steps are necessary to secure the children’s freedom should be considered, including negotiations if required. He maintained that the lives of innocent schoolchildren must come before politics or bureaucracy. His emotional appeal quickly resonated with many Nigerians online, who praised him for speaking out on behalf of families enduring uncertainty and heartbreak. Others noted that it is uncommon for prominent entertainers, particularly within the Fuji music community, to address sensitive national issues publicly.
As Nigerians continue to demand justice and protection for vulnerable communities, Saheed Osupa’s message has struck a chord with many citizens, who say the government must do everything in its power to ensure the safe return of the victims.
