“Anybody Who Tries to Rig Will Face Consequences” - Davido Vows to Protect Votes in Osun Governorship Election

Afrobeats superstar Davido has once again stepped into the political spotlight, assuring Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke that he will personally be on the ground to monitor the upcoming governorship election.

“Anybody Who Tries to Rig Will Face Consequences” - Davido Vows to Protect Votes in Osun Governorship Election

Afrobeats superstar Davido has stirred yet another political conversation after promising to personally monitor the upcoming Osun State governorship election and resist any attempt at vote rigging. The singer made the declaration while reaffirming his support for his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election for the post of Osun State Governor in the August 15, 2026, poll.

According to reports, Davido shared a video of former electoral commissioner Nnenna Otti discussing election fraud, then issued a stern warning to anyone planning to manipulate the election. He stated that he would be “on ground” to defend votes and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

The singer wrote that anyone attempting to rig the election would face serious consequences and assured Adeleke of his full support throughout the campaign and election period. His comments come amid heightened political tension in Osun ahead of the governorship race. Davido has become increasingly involved in Osun politics in recent months. He was appointed head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party campaign council and has remained vocal about issues surrounding the election.

His statement has since generated mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his commitment to electoral transparency. At the same time, critics argue that election security and monitoring should remain the responsibility of electoral authorities and security agencies.
