“Voting for Obi Is Voting for Criminality” - Kenneth Okonkwo Drops Explosive Allegations Against NDC
Former Labour Party Spokesman and actor, Kenneth Okonkwo makes fresh allegations against presidential candidate, Peter Obi and the the National Democratic Coalitio (NDC) claiming that aspirants seeking elective positions were compelled to pay millions of naira in what he described as bribes.
The actor-turned-politician made the accusations during a recent interview where he launched a fresh attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Okonkwo reportedly alleged that aspirants seeking tickets under the NDC platform were compelled to pay millions of naira. Based on those allegations, he argued that anyone supporting Peter Obi and the NDC would be “voting for criminality.”According to reports, Okonkwo claimed that an Anambra State House of Representatives aspirant, Obunike Ohebu, sent him a message accusing party leaders of scamming aspirants. The aspirant claimed that after purchasing an expression of interest form, House of Representatives prospects were allegedly instructed to pay an additional 10 million, while Senate aspirants were asked to pay 20 million naira to South-East caucus leaders. He further claimed that many aspirants paid the money believing their nominations were already secured, only to find out that several other candidates had made similar payments and were subsequently directed to participate in direct primaries.
However, these remain allegations made by Okonkwo, and no court has established wrongdoing against Peter Obi or the NDC in relation to the claims. As of the reports currently circulating, Obi had not publicly responded to the accusations.
The remarks have generated intense reactions online, with supporters of Obi dismissing the claims as politically motivated, while critics have called for an investigation or a legal response if the allegations are false.
