If a Retired Major General Fit Kpai Like That, Who's You? – Paul  Psquare Reacts to General's Death in Captivity

Paul Okoye of the defunct Psquare group has expressed raw outrage over the death of a retired Major General in the captivity of bandits, questioning the safety of ordinary Nigerians.

If a Retired Major General Fit Kpai Like That, Who's You? – Paul  Psquare Reacts to General's Death in Captivity

Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy, has added his voice to the growing frustration over insecurity in Nigeria, and his reaction to the death of a retired Major General has struck a chord with many. The singer took to his Instagram story to lament the tragic passing of Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd), a former Director of Defence Information and one-time spokesman for the Nigerian Army, who died while in the custody of bandits. According to reports, Abubakar and his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, were abducted on May 30, 2026, while traveling to Katsina State for a wedding, and the retired officer passed away in captivity on June 13, 2026.

The Defence Headquarters confirmed the death, noting that all efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful. Reports indicate that the retired general died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension while being held by his abductors, and his body has since been released, along with his wife. In his post, Paul expressed deep concern about the safety of average Nigerians, writing, "Major general with all his training, gallant, strength and endurance incase he finds himself in such situation. Still kpai of heart attack. If a retired major general fit kpai like that, who's you?" His message was blunt and fatalistic, reflecting the growing sense of hopelessness that many Nigerians feel as bandits continue to operate with impunity. The online space has been flooded with reactions to Paul's post, with many Nigerians sharing his frustration and demanding action from the government. Some commenters pointed out that if a high-ranking military officer with years of training can be abducted and die in captivity, then ordinary citizens have no chance at all. Others criticized the government's response to insecurity, arguing that the situation has become a national disgrace. A few expressed condolences for the family of the deceased general while also calling for urgent reforms in the country's security architecture. Paul has consistently spoken out about insecurity in Nigeria, including his reaction to the Palm Sunday attacks in Jos earlier in 2026, where he said Nigerians were "not angry enough" about the deteriorating security situation. His latest comments have further ignited discussions about the growing audacity of bandits and the government's inability to protect its citizens, including those who spent their lives defending the nation. As Nigerians continue to mourn the loss of the retired Major General, Paul's question lingers in the air, if a man of his stature and training could not survive, what hope is there for the rest of the people?
