"I Don't See Any Good Candidate" – Singer Skales Dismisses All 2027 Presidential Hopefuls

Singer Skales has expressed strong disappointment in Nigeria's political system, stating that he does not plan to vote in the 2027 elections because he does not trust any of the current politicians.

"I Don't See Any Good Candidate" – Singer Skales Dismisses All 2027 Presidential Hopefuls

Skales has become the latest celebrity to voice frustration with Nigeria's political landscape, declaring that he sees no credible candidate worth his vote in the 2027 presidential election. The singer made the statement on X (formerly Twitter) in response to a prompt from journalist Oseni Rufai, who asked Nigerians who they intended to vote for in the upcoming elections.

Skales replied bluntly, "To be honest none," and when challenged by another user who insisted there were qualified contenders on the list, he stood his ground, stating, "I don't see any good candidate that can take this country to a better place" .

The singer's comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his assessment and others criticizing him for dismissing the entire field without proper research. Skales elaborated on his position, arguing that Nigeria needs a new generation of leaders made up of younger people with fresh ideas, vision, and innovation, rather than what he described as "recycled politicians" who have held office repeatedly without delivering meaningful progress.

He wrote, "same recycled politicians that have proven time after time that they do not know what they are doing? we need younger politicians with vision". His remarks have fueled broader conversations about voter expectations and public confidence in political leadership ahead of the 2027 poll. Many Nigerians share Skales' frustration, pointing to the country's persistent challenges with insecurity, economic hardship, and corruption as evidence that the current political class has failed to deliver meaningful change.

Some have argued that celebrities like Skales have a platform and should use it to advocate for better candidates rather than simply opting out of the democratic process entirely. Skales has not responded to the criticism, and he appears firm in his position that none of the current candidates have earned his trust. His statement is the latest in a growing trend of public figures expressing disillusionment with Nigeria's political system, and it raises important questions about whether voter apathy will be a major factor in the 2027 elections.

As the debate continues to unfold, one thing is certain, Skales has added his voice to a conversation that resonates with millions of Nigerians who feel the same way about the country's leadership.
