“It’s the Same ‘Olodo Uprising’ You Use to Promote Your Noise” - Peller Fires Back at Ycee Over Controversial Remarks

Popular streamer Peller has joined the growing backlash against rapper Ycee’s controversial “Olodo Uprising” remarks, accusing the rapper of attacking the same internet culture that helps keep entertainers relevant.

“It’s the Same ‘Olodo Uprising’ You Use to Promote Your Noise” - Peller Fires Back at Ycee Over Controversial Remarks

War of words over rapper Ycee’s controversial “Olodo Uprising” comments has taken a dramatic turn as popular streamer and content creator, Peller fires back.

The controversy started after Ycee expressed his concerns about the so-called growing culture of anti-intellectualism in Nigeria. According to the rapper, “Nigerian society is no longer celebrating academic excellence. It’s not even Yahøø culture anymore; now we have a 'Peller culture.' This 'Olodo' uprising we are witnessing is terrible. It feels like we are trying so hard to accommodate ignorance so people won’t feel bad, and now they seem to be the majority.

The remarks quickly faced immediate backlash on the internet, especially from content creators who felt targeted by his comments, especially Peller. Ycee’s criticism was followed by Peller reportedly accusing the rapper of benefiting from the social media culture he was criticising. “Generally, entertainers capitalise on trending topics, online engagement, and viral conversations to remain relevant and promote their work,” he said.

“It is the same ‘Olodo Uprising’ you use to promote your noise,” Peller fired back, suggesting that Ycee’s comments were disconnected from the realities of today’s digital entertainment industry.

Peller’s response immediately gained traction online, fueling an already heated debate about education, social media influence, and the changing definition of success in modern Nigeria. While some social media users agreed with Ycee’s concerns about declining educational values, others sided with Peller, arguing that content creation has become a legitimate career path that provides opportunities for thousands of young people.

As reactions continue to pour in, one thing is certain: the “Olodo Uprising” debate is far from over.
