“I Went to School and Graduated, Yet There Are No Jobs” - Jarvis Fires Back at Ycee, Defends Peller Amid ‘Olodo Uprising’ Debate

TikTok star Jarvis has joined the growing backlash against rapper Ycee after his controversial “olodo uprising” comments to defend her partner, Peller, and the wider content creation community.

Media personality and popular TikTok creator Jarvis has attacked rapper Ycee over his controversial comments about what he described as an “olodo uprising” in Nigeria.

The debate was ignited by Ycee who took to social media to call out what he described as the growing glorification of ignorance in society, in a recent podcast interview, citing “olodo culture”, “Yahoo culture” and “Peller culture”. The comments were quickly followed by responses across social media, many taking the mention of Peller as a pointed dig at the popular content creator.

Jarvis, not willing to stay silent, took to social media to defend herself and her partner, Peller, stating that many young Nigerians have turned to content creation not because they are uneducated, but because of the country’s harsh economic realities.

“I went to school. I graduated,” Jarvis said. “Since the government didn’t provide jobs for us, what exactly did you expect people to do?”

The TikTok star stressed that countless educated Nigerians are struggling to secure meaningful employment despite earning degrees, forcing many to seek opportunities in the digital space. She also challenged the idea that content creators should be viewed as less intelligent simply because they entertain audiences online.

“Because we are acting funny and playful, trying to earn a living, you’re telling us that we don’t want education? So what about me, who graduated?” she asked.

Jarvis further took issue with Ycee’s reference to “Peller culture,” which she viewed as an unnecessary attack on her fiancé. Defending Peller, she argued that everyone has their own style and niche, insisting that success in the digital economy should not be dismissed simply because it looks different from traditional career paths.  As the conversation continues to trend, the clash has reignited discussions about unemployment, education, social media influence.
