“My Biggest Fear Is Not Knowing When to Quit Music” - Davido Says Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup Experience Changed His Perspective

“My Biggest Fear Is Not Knowing When to Quit Music” - Davido Says Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup Experience Changed His Perspective

Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared one of his deepest fears, revealing how Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup experience changed his perspective on fame, success, and knowing when it’s time to walk away.

Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about one of his deepest fears, revealing that he often worries about not knowing when to step away from music despite his incredible success.

Speaking during a recent interview, the award-winning singer reflected on the emotional challenges that come with fame, saying that the pressure to stay relevant inspired him to dream of creating a support centre for people who were once highly successful but later struggled with life outside the spotlight.

“If there were one thing I could build, I would build a school, not a school, like a centre for people that have been popular and very successful before. A centre for them to have therapy.”

According to Davido, many people underestimate the emotional toll that fame can have, especially when public admiration begins to fade. He explained that even individuals who have reached the pinnacle of their careers are often subjected to harsh criticism, regardless of everything they have achieved.

“It’s crazy, being on top of the world and the next moment you’re lost. Even with football. You win all these awards, you win the Champions League, you win the World Cup, and people still feel like it’s not enough.”

The singer pointed to Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo as an example, revealing that watching the football legend face intense criticism after the FIFA World Cup deeply affected him. Davido disclosed that Ronaldo is a close friend and said he found it painful to see people overlook the footballer’s remarkable achievements because of one disappointing tournament.

“Look at Ronaldo. He’s my friend, by the way, my very good friend. When he left the World Cup, I remember being on the internet and seeing them abuse him so much. After everything he has done.”

The singer admitted that the experience changed the way he views success and longevity, making him realise how quickly public perception can change. He added that his greatest fear is damaging everything he has worked so hard to build over the years and said he constantly prays for wisdom to know when it is time to step away from the spotlight.

“That’s my greatest fear. I worked too hard for me to come and spoil it for something. So I always ask God, ‘God, just tell me the right time to pack it up.’ But I think that’s the only thing I’m scared of.”

Davido’s candid remarks have resonated with many fans, sparking conversations about the pressures of fame, the importance of mental health, and the emotional struggles faced by public figures long after achieving success. Many social media users praised the singer for speaking openly about a topic that is rarely discussed, with others agreeing that celebrities often need emotional support just as much as anyone else, especially when navigating life at the peak and sometimes beyond their careers.
