“How Can You Call an Adulterous Woman a Queen?” - Rita Edochie Sparks Debate With Strong Message on Marriage

Veteran actress Rita Edochie has sparked heated debate online after questioning why women accused of breaking up marriages are celebrated as “queens,” reigniting conversations about marriage, loyalty, and accountability.

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has stirred widespread reactions online after sharing a strongly worded message criticising the celebration of women accused of breaking up marriages.

In a lengthy post shared on social media, the actress questioned why such women are often praised and referred to as “queens,” insisting that true queens are defined by dignity, grace, honour, and integrity, not by becoming involved in relationships that allegedly destroy existing homes.

“How can you call her a queen? Who made her a queen? What made her a queen? By stealing what does not belong to her?” she wrote.

Rita went on to argue that a woman deserves the title of queen through her character and values, not by building her happiness at the expense of another woman’s marriage.

“A true queen is a woman of dignity, grace and honour. She does not tear down another woman’s sanctuary to erect her own throne.”

The actress also criticised people who publicly defend or celebrate women accused of breaking homes, saying such actions normalise behaviour that hurts families and marriages. In another part of her message, Rita addressed men who support such situations, urging them to imagine how they would feel if the roles were reversed. She argued that if people encourage these actions, they should be willing to accept the same circumstances within their own families.

Although Rita Edochie did not mention anyone by name, her comments have sparked intense discussions across social media, with many users speculating about who the post may have been directed at.

The post has generated mixed reactions online. While many agreed with her stance on protecting the sanctity of marriage and applauded her for speaking out, others felt her comments were too harsh and reignited unnecessary controversy. As debates continue to unfold, Rita Edochie’s latest post has once again brought conversations about marriage, loyalty, and accountability to the centre of public attention.
