"People Think a Married Man Is Funding My Lifestyle" – Mercy Eke Opens Up on Biggest Misconceptions
Mercy Eke has finally set the record straight on the persistent rumours that have followed her since her Big Brother Naija win.
Speaking during an interview with Toke Makinwa on Toke Moments, the reality TV star admitted that life after the show has not been as easy as many assume, especially when dealing with public perception.
"Coming out of the house now, I've been pushing myself, it's not been easy, especially when people have perceptions about you," she said.
When Toke asked about the biggest misconception people have about her, Mercy didn't hold back. "The one that everybody knows is, oh, someone is funding my lifestyle, that I'm dating a married man.
Apart from being pregnant every week," she said before both burst into laughter.
The BBNaija winner dismissed these claims, making it clear that she has worked hard to build her success and does not rely on anyone to maintain her lifestyle.
The reality star also revealed that she has actually been in a committed relationship with the same person for the past four years. "I have been dating someone for four years. He's single and he knows me, and I'm not going to prove anything.
I barely go out, and when I'm out, I don't hide," she disclosed . She confirmed that marriage has been discussed, but surprisingly, the delay is not coming from her side, as her partner keeps insisting that she is not ready.
Mercy also opened up about her desire to start a family, saying having a child is now a top priority. "Right now, I want a baby. I have prayed, I have fasted," she said.
She explained that she feels ready for marriage and motherhood, citing her age, success, and mental preparedness as reasons she believes she can handle a home.
The reality star also reflected on the challenges of pursuing a master's degree while building her career, noting that the experience was stressful but ultimately rewarding.
