Wike Beams With Pride as Daughter Jazmyne Bags Law Degree from UK University

The graduation ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, was a moment of pure joy for the Wike family as they gathered to celebrate Jazmyne's academic success.

Wike took to social media to express his excitement, writing, "I celebrate and rejoice with my daughter, Jazmyne, who yesterday, earned a Bachelor of Laws (Upper Second-Class Honours) degree from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom".

He added, "I and my darling wife are so elated to have witnessed that moment of joy of parenthood. Jazmyne, thank you for making us proud".

The ceremony attracted a host of prominent political figures from across Nigeria, who joined Wike and his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Wike, to celebrate the milestone.

Among those in attendance were Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, former PDP governorship candidate Prof. Sandy Onor, PDP Deputy National Chairman (South) Aaron Chukwuemeka, and APC chieftain Hon. Kingsley Chinda.

Wike expressed gratitude to those who attended despite their busy schedules, saying, "You will always receive happiness from your children".

Jazmyne's achievement comes months after another of Wike's children completed postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, with members of his immediate family having attended higher institutions in the country in recent years.

The graduation ceremony was also attended by the Executive Director of Projects of the South South Development Commission, Hon. Marcus Nle Ejii, and Hon. Victor Obuzor, who represents Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The celebration, however, has not been without controversy. Following Wike's post, social media users resurfaced an old video in which the FCT Minister questioned the need for Nigerians to study courses such as Law, English, and Economics abroad, arguing that Nigerian universities had strong faculties in those disciplines.

In the resurfaced clip, Wike had said, "Some of these courses, you don't need to send them abroad... Why do you want to send somebody who wants to read Law overseas? When you know we have very good faculties in these areas in Nigerian universities".

The resurfaced remarks have generated online debate, with some commentators contrasting the minister's earlier position with his family's educational choices abroad, while others simply congratulated Jazmyne on her academic achievement.
