"I Miss Prison" – DJ Chicken Yarns for a Quick Return Just Hours After Regaining Freedom

The comedian and social media personality regained his freedom on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, after spending 11 days in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following his arrest over an alleged death threat against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed the release, and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore also announced that DJ Chicken had been reunited with his family and loved ones.

Shortly after his release, a livestream shared on Instagram showed the content creator inside a vehicle, smiling and interacting with followers, expressing gratitude to God and praising the Nigerian government.

He said, "I'm back oo, freedom at last. God bless the Nigerian government, God bless Seyi Tinubu, and our president. I love you guys. It is not easy, my fans. People that are free don't know what God has done for them. Freedom is good".

However, just hours after tasting freedom, DJ Chicken made a shocking statement that has left many scratching their heads.

In a video that has since gone viral, he declared that he already misses prison, a comment that has sparked confusion and speculation about his true feelings regarding his time behind bars.

The statement is particularly surprising given that he had earlier offered a warm account of his prison experience, insisting he was treated well and even questioning whether he was truly in a correctional facility.

"They didn't maltreat me," he had said, adding that he had genuinely questioned whether he was even in prison at all, given the conditions.

His comments about missing prison come just days after he had pledged to keep a lower profile going forward, telling his sister, "I no talk too much again".

The contradictory statements have led many to question whether DJ Chicken is being genuine about his prison experience or simply trolling to stay in the spotlight.

Some social media users have suggested that his glowing review of prison conditions might be an attempt to avoid further trouble, while others believe he may actually have enjoyed the experience.

DJ Chicken was arrested and charged over a viral video in which he allegedly threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.

Despite retracting his remarks and insisting they were a joke intended to attract attention, the Lagos State Government proceeded with criminal charges against him.

He was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in the Ogba area of Lagos State on three counts bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of peace and making threats to kill.

After pleading not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, with the court ordering his remand at Kirikiri pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

His case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings, meaning that despite his freedom, the legal battle is far from over.

The content creator's declaration that he misses prison may be a sign of the complicated emotions surrounding his experience behind bars, or perhaps just another attempt to keep his name trending.
