At 45, if I were to start again from zero, I'd begin as a paid car washer — Billionaire Sujimoto inspires Nigerian youths

Billionaire real estate mogul and Sujimoto CEO, Sijibomi Ogundele, has revealed the business strategy he would adopt if he lost everything and had to start life from scratch at the age of 45, insisting that survival comes first and that no one should be too proud to start small.

At 45, if I were to start again from zero, I'd begin as a paid car washer — Billionaire Sujimoto inspires Nigerian youths

Speaking in an interview that has since gone viral across social media platforms, the property developer shared his unconventional blueprint for rebuilding wealth from zero.

According to Ogundele, he wouldn't wait for connections or capital before taking action, stressing that the first priority is simply to eat and survive.

"If I have to start from Nigeria out of zero, even at 45, you have to start from zero. Without anything! First of all, I need to raise money to eat, because you have to eat before you survive. So, I'll start washing cars," he said.

The billionaire explained that he would begin by offering car-washing services, ensuring he charged customers for his work while delivering high-quality service.

He estimated that washing between 30 and 40 cars daily could generate about N40,000 in revenue, which he would use to employ other workers and grow the business.

"I'll buy good, powerful washing materials. I won't wash for free because I have to earn money, but I'll be diligent. I'll wash the car clean, clean the inside and make everything spotless," he said .

Ogundele's strategy doesn't end with car washing. He revealed that after building sufficient capital, he would establish a full-scale car wash before diversifying into the food business.

"When I raise enough money, maybe I'll open a car wash where people can come. Then I'll go into the food business. I'll go to the North, buy a truckload of tomatoes, bring it to Mile 12 Market and sell it. Then I'll buy a truckload of onions," he explained.

The property developer's mindset reflects his belief that entrepreneurs should not be afraid to start with modest ventures if they are committed to growing them into larger businesses.

His approach has resonated with many Nigerians who are inspired by his willingness to start from the bottom despite his current billionaire status. Ogundele, who has built a reputation for redefining luxury real estate in Nigeria with projects like LucreziaBySujimoto and the proposed LeonardBySujimoto, has also expanded into the food processing sector with the launch of Sujimoto Foods.

His recent comments have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many praising his humility and practical approach to wealth creation. The message is clear, no matter how high you rise, the willingness to start small and work your way up remains one of the most valuable skills an entrepreneur can possess.

For Nigerian youths facing economic hardship, Ogundele's words serve as a powerful reminder that success is not about where you start but about the determination to keep moving forward.
