“Burna Boy Stopped Speaking to Me After False Rumours That I Slept With His Girlfriend” - Shatta Wale Opens Up

Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has opened up about the alleged breakdown of his once-close friendship with Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, claiming that false rumours caused the relationship between them to fall apart.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Shatta Wale alleged that Burna Boy stopped communicating with him after people reportedly told the Nigerian superstar that he had an affair with Burna Boy’s girlfriend during one of the singer’s visits to Ghana.

According to Shatta Wale, his relationship with Burna Boy was once so close that the Nigerian singer personally called him before travelling to Ghana and asked him to pick him up from the airport. The Ghanaian music star said the request stood out to him because, according to him, no other Nigerian artist had ever asked him to do something similar. Shatta Wale claimed that he went above and beyond to make Burna Boy comfortable throughout his stay, providing him with accommodation, cars and other support.

“I was treating Burna Boy in Ghana like a king. I was showing him the roads of Ghana… I gave him a house, gave him cars. He wasn’t wasting money in Ghana,” he said.

However, Shatta Wale alleged that things took an unexpected turn after he fell out with some members of his team. According to him, the individuals allegedly began contacting influential people in his life and spreading damaging stories in an attempt to destroy some of his important relationships.

“They told Burna Boy that I was f**king his girl he brought to Ghana. He just bought it,” Shatta Wale claimed.

The dancehall star said he was unaware that the allegation had allegedly been made against him and only realised something was wrong after Burna Boy began ignoring his calls and messages. Shatta Wale claimed that he repeatedly tried to reach out to the Nigerian singer after his career reached greater heights but received no response.

He said he later contacted Burna Boy’s mother, whom he described as being “like my mother” because of the close relationship they once shared. However, he claimed she continued giving him reasons why the singer was unavailable.

“I didn’t know they’ve told them, and he’s decided not to talk to me,” Shatta Wale said.

While expressing gratitude for Burna Boy’s success, Shatta Wale admitted that he was deeply hurt that the singer allegedly did not give him an opportunity to explain his side of the story.

Shatta Wale’s revelations have since sparked conversations online, with fans reacting to the alleged misunderstanding and questioning whether the two music stars could ever reconcile. The revelation has left many fans wondering whether a private conversation could have saved what Shatta Wale described as a once-close friendship between two of Africa’s biggest music stars.
