"I Will Never Romanticise the Idea of Dating a Yahoo Boy" – Yul Edochie's Daughter Daniella Rejects Viral Trend

Daniella Edochie, the first daughter of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie and his estranged wife May, has sparked conversations online after firmly declaring that she would never date an internet fraudster, popularly known as a "Yahoo boy," regardless of how wealthy they may be.

"I Will Never Romanticise the Idea of Dating a Yahoo Boy" – Yul Edochie's Daughter Daniella Rejects Viral Trend

Reacting to a growing social media trend that appears to glamorize relationships with internet fraudsters, Daniella took to TikTok on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to make her stance clear.

In the now-viral video, she looked directly into the camera and rejected any notion of building a life with someone who profits from online scams. "I don't know about the rest of you, but I have been seeing this trend normalising stealing and fraud.

I will never romanticise the idea of being with someone as a partner who steals from people online or even physically," she said, her frustration with the glorification of fraud evident in her voice.

The 21-year-old content creator questioned why anyone would choose a fraudster as a romantic partner, arguing that wealth acquired through illegal means is built on the hard work and suffering of innocent victims.

"Anytime I hear, 'Oh, you're not into fraud?' I'm like, I don't understand. So I will risk my own existence to be with somebody who steals money from people? Your whole life is based on somebody else's hard work or somebody else's money," she added.

She acknowledged that many people are drawn to the large sums of money associated with fraudsters, but insisted that no amount of money could justify criminal activity.

Daniella clarified that she also values financial success, but she refused to accept wealth obtained through fraudulent means. "I'll never be in my right senses and decide to date a Yahoo boy.

Ladies may be attracted to the huge amount of money those guys make, but not me. I love money too, but please, just stay far away from me," she said, making it clear that she was not interested in any advances from internet fraudsters.

She further stressed that her refusal was rooted in principle, not just personal preference, as she could not build a life with someone whose wealth comes from exploiting others.

Her strong words have since drawn widespread attention, with social media users sharing diverse opinions on her stance. While many praised her for standing on integrity and refusing to glorify crime, others questioned whether her position was realistic or privileged.

One X user backed her position, writing, "Finally someone who thinks like a normal person," while another argued, "Yahoo boys are the best type of men to date because they have the vibes and relationship can never be boring".

The debate highlights the ongoing societal conversation in Nigeria about internet fraud, its growing social acceptance in some circles, and the pressure on young people to chase quick wealth.

As the daughter of a prominent Nollywood actor, Daniella's comments carry extra weight, particularly as she has amassed over 300,000 followers on Instagram where she shares lifestyle content and periodically addresses personal values and broader societal matters.

Her stance on rejecting relationships with internet fraudsters comes as public figures continue to use their platforms to speak against cybercrime and encourage young people to pursue legitimate means of earning a living.

Whether more young people will follow her lead in rejecting relationships built on stolen funds remains to be seen.
