P-Square Destroyed Africa's Biggest Brand – Daddy Showkey Blasts Peter and Paul Okoye

Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has criticised the prolonged dispute between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square, saying their disagreement destroyed one of Africa's biggest music brands and that the duo owed it to their fans to resolve their differences.

Speaking in an interview with Goldmyne TV on Saturday, Daddy Showkey expressed disappointment over the public fallout that has seen the iconic group, which dominated the African music scene for nearly two decades, reduced to a shadow of its former self.

The veteran singer, known for his classic tracks from the 1990s, said the damage done by the brothers' infighting goes far beyond their personal grievances because P-Square belonged to the fans who supported them throughout their career.

"P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn't for them alone," he said, stressing that entertainers owe much of their success to their fans and should consider the people who supported their careers when making major decisions.

The singer's remarks echo the sentiments of many fans who have watched the Okoye brothers' bitter feud play out in public over the past decade.

P-Square, formed in 1999, grew to become one of Africa's most successful music groups, producing hits like "Personally," "Chop My Money," "E No Easy," and "Shekini."

However, the group first split in 2017 amid reported disagreements over management and finances, reunited in 2021, and parted ways again in 2024 after further disputes.

The latest chapter of the feud has seen Peter Okoye release a multi-part video series accusing his brothers of financial misconduct and threats, while Jude Okoye, the group's former manager, has denied all allegations and insisted the matters are before the court.

Daddy Showkey's intervention adds a respected voice to the growing chorus of public figures calling for the brothers to resolve their differences.

He argued that the group's legacy should have been preserved for the sake of the millions of fans who grew up listening to their music and who continue to support the group's catalogue.

The veteran singer's comments also highlight a generational perspective on the responsibility of artists to their audiences, a value he believes has been forgotten in the current dispute.

The feud has also drawn reactions from other industry veterans and celebrities, with Don Jazzy's father, Collins Ajereh, offering a heartfelt prayer for healing and reconciliation.

As the public debate continues, Daddy Showkey's blunt assessment serves as a reminder that the Okoye brothers' dispute has consequences that extend far beyond their personal grievances, affecting the legacy of one of Africa's most iconic music groups and the fans who helped build it.
