“Dapper Forged My Signature to Collect Money From Foreign Label” - Shallipopi Calls for EFCC Investigation

The long-running dispute between Shallipopi and his former management appears far from over, as the singer has made fresh and serious allegations against Dapper and called for the matter to be properly investigated.

Nigerian singer Shallipopi has reignited his long-running dispute with music executive Dapper, making fresh and serious allegations about contracts, his music catalogue and money allegedly received from an international music company.

In a post shared on Twitter on Saturday, Shallipopi called on Dapper to stop avoiding the matter and urged both parties to appear in court so the dispute can finally be resolved. Shallipopi alleged that he initially signed with Dapper Music in 2023 strictly for management, but claimed that his signature was later forged and attached to what he described as a 10-year distribution agreement.

According to the singer, this happened despite his claim that he was already using another distributor, DistroKid. He further alleged that his signature was also forged on an agreement with Virgin Music Group, an international music company. He challenged Dapper to provide his catalogue and said he was prepared to pay for it, suggesting that he wants complete control over his music.

“Contract expire, you wan dull me ke,” the singer wrote, according to the post.

The singer did not stop at calling for a court date. He specifically urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the government to take the allegations seriously. He described the matter as a fraud case and said he was personally willing to appear before the EFCC to present his statement.

“I want the EFCC and the entire government, the entire media and everyone in Africa as a whole take this matter very serious,” he said.

The latest allegations come against the backdrop of Shallipopi’s earlier dispute with Dapper Music. In 2024, he announced his exit from the label, accusing it of financial mismanagement, lack of transparency and unfair contractual arrangements. Dapper Music denied the accusations and maintained that its agreements were transparent and entered into with legal representation available to artists.

For now, all eyes are on Dapper and whether the music executive will respond to the latest explosive accusations. And if Shallipopi gets his wish for a courtroom showdown, this music-industry saga could be far from over.
