The controversy started after Carter Efe posted pictures of certificates he claimed were issued by Babcock University while responding to critics in the ongoing “Olodo uprising” debate. The comedian posted documents to prove his academic credentials, claiming he graduated with a First-Class degree in Biochemistry from the university.

Critics said there were also inconsistencies in the documents, like the use of the phrase “First Class Upper,” a classification that does not exist in the Nigerian university grading system.
